Dysport
I do special things for myself, and I’ll bet you do, too.
I work out, eat right, and take care of my skin. Of course, cosmetic creams and lotions will always have their place in my regimen—but for my moderate to severe frown lines, I was ready for a prescription treatment. Maybe you are, too.
What causes frown lines?
Over time, repeated movement of the facial skin by the forehead muscles forms lines between the eyebrows. Frown lines are “dynamic”—they happen because of the way a person’s face moves.
Are they always related to age?
No. Because frown lines are created by facial movements, such as frowning or squinting, they may develop even in younger adults.
Prescription Dysport temporarily improves the look of your frown lines without changing the look of your whole face. Untreated facial muscles still work normally. See how Dysport works.
What is the most important information you should know about Dysport?
Spread of Toxin Effects: In some cases, the effects of Dysport and all botulinum toxin products may affect areas of the body away from the injection site. These effects can cause symptoms of a serious condition called botulism. Symptoms of botulism can happen hours to weeks after injection and may include swallowing and breathing problems, loss of strength and muscle weakness all over the body, double vision, blurred vision and drooping eyelids, hoarseness or change or loss of voice, trouble saying words clearly, or loss of bladder control.
Do not have Dysport treatment if you: are allergic to Dysport or any of its ingredients (see the end of the Medication Guide for a list of ingredients), are allergic to cow’s milk protein, had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product (such as Myobloc® or Botox®), or have a skin infection at the planned injection site.
The dose of Dysport is not the same as the dose of any other botulinum toxin product. The dose of Dysport cannot be compared to the dose of any other botulinum toxin product you may have used.
Xeomin
What is XEOMIN®?
- XEOMIN® is a prescription medication used in facial aesthetics to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar frown lines between the eyes (glabellar lines) in adults.
- XEOMIN® contains botulinum toxin type A, a protein purified from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
- XEOMIN® is also sometimes referred to as incobotulinumtoxinA.
XEOMIN® in Aesthetics: How Does it Work?
When you squint or frown, the muscles between your brows contract, causing the skin to furrow and fold. These lines that occur due to facial mimics are referred to as dynamic lines. Over time, as your skin ages and loses some of its elasticity, these repeated contractions can cause persistent frown lines.
Botulinum toxin type A – the active ingredient in XEOMIN® – is used in facial aesthetic treatment to treat dynamic lines like glabellar frown lines. It acts on nerve endings in muscles to prevent muscle fibers from contracting. By reducing these contractions, XEOMIN® can temporarily reduce the frown lines on your forehead between your eyes.
Botox
Your 1’s, 11’s, or 111’s are those moderate to severe vertical frown lines between your brows. Years of squinting, concentrating, or frowning can cause your skin to furrow and crease. As your skin becomes less elastic, those moderate to severe frown lines remain—even when your muscles are not contracting.
With a few tiny injections, BOTOX® Cosmetic blocks nerve impulses to the injected muscles, which reduces the muscle activity that causes those persistent 1’s, 11’s, or 111’s to form. This reduced muscle activity helps reduce the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between your brows.
